The Farmers Cooperative Irrigation Company began with the purchase of the Payette Valley Irrigation and Water Power Company in 1900. The newly created Idaho-based corporation wished to retire its New York bonds and recapitalize, contracting for new bonds with the Peoples Bank and Trust Company of Rockford, Illinois via Utah Mortgage and Loan Company of Logan.
